March 11, 2020
In accordance with Governor Baker’s state of emergency declaration with regard to COVID-19, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is acting with an abundance of caution to protect the health of the Commonwealth. Based on the information available and in order to mitigate the spread of the virus, MA-DPH is following guidance to cancel large external events such as conferences, seminars and other discretionary gatherings.
AdCare Educational Institute, Inc., has been meeting internally to create a contingency plan of operations that will protect the health and safety of our training participants and staff, while also allowing programming to continue to go forward to meet the educational and training needs of the Massachusetts behavioral health and public health workforce. To inform our decision-making process, we are following data and guidance from the the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization and other top public health agencies and experts. The health and safety of our trainers, participants, and staff is our top priority.
Our organization is taking a proactive and preventative approach to assist with the statewide efforts to decrease the exposure and community transmission of COVID-19. Effective March 11, 2020, AdCare is revising its training schedule and suspending in-person trainings for the rest of March and April. Most in-person trainings that were scheduled for March and April are being re-scheduled to a later date, and some may be transitioned into an online, webinar format. If you have already registered and paid for a cancelled event, you will be refunded.
We know that many individuals attend our trainings to acquire continuing education contact hours for licensing and credentialing purposes. Our goal is to protect your health and safety while still moving forward with training opportunities to minimize disruptions in the ability to acquire the training hours you need for your license or credential. We will continue to monitor developments to inform any alterations needed for training events in May or June. If there are any future alterations in trainings in those months we will issue a new communication on this website with new guidance.

On behalf of our entire organization, we wish all of our participants and partners wellness and safety in the weeks and months ahead. Please go to the Massachusetts DPH website or the U.S. CDC website for more information and current updates on COVID-19.
In addition to the above, the Department continues to promote steps we can take to make a safer workplace for us all.
• Cover your mouth – when you cough or sneeze use a tissue or your inner elbow, not your hands.
• Wash your hands – with soap and warm water or use an alcohol-based sanitizing gel.
• Stay home if you are sick – and avoid close contact with others.
Please do not hesitate to be in touch with any questions or concerns you may have related to our operations during this time.
